Ok everyone out there in the Savage world. I’ve been looking to trade in my Savage for a larger machine. Why? I’m planning on a trip that will avg. about 1500 miles over a 4 day period. I’m not sure if my back can take the ride on the Savage. (100-150 mile trips give me no problem) Here are some observations on Bikes that I’ve tried so far
2001 – Volusia – Nice, comfortable, but doesn’t have the feeling of the Savage on a back road. (It does weigh just a little more)
2001 – Honda Ace – Wide bars for a reason…LEVERAGE in the turns. (Scary if you jump off the Savage and right onto the ACE) The Volusia handles much better. The Ace is a comfortable bike having smooth acceleration.
2001 – Kawasaki ZR –7s – Surprisingly easy to handle, and comfortable. I’m thinking about trying this bike out again. (I’m having a hard time accepting the fact that I may have something other then a cruiser)
After all of these test rides, I’m amazed at how good the Savage really is for the price. At this point I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to do.
Any advice on which bike to look at? (If any)
Maybe part of the problem is that I purchased the Savage after not riding for a long period of time. It seems, if you believe the reviews that I just don’t know what a good bike is supposed to feel like. I mean I like the Savage and the ZR-7s….ah well
Thanks
